Our final week was bittersweet as we continued down the California Coast with stops in Santa Barbara, Ventura, Santa Monica, Laguna Beach, and Encinitas.

Several of Andrew’s friends invited us to stay in their homes the last few nights of the trip. It was a real treat and a nice way to complete the final days.

Cycling through familiar territory, Andrew’s legs were strong and he pressed on to bike another 300 miles in the final days to reach the Mexican border at Tijuana.

His closest friends joined us for the final days and accompanied Andrew on their bikes. Thank you to Tanner, Taylor, and Julian for joining him in the LA area! It was wonderful to have fellow bikers along for the last four days of the journey. And a special thank you to another friend, Nikki, who cycled 60 miles from Carlsbad to Tijuana to reach the border on the final day.

Andrew’s commitment, courage, and strength were an example to us all. He never wavered and in the end, he cycled 2,000 miles over the course of 45 days—incredible! He climbed 100,000 feet on his trusted bike, Ferdinand, and above all, he raised over $25,000 for education and tuition for the Touch A Life kids!!! Amazing!!!

Andrew, you are my hero. You sacrificed everything to raise money and awareness for Touch A Life. Your dream became a reality and, for me, this was the trip of a lifetime. Thank you for inviting me to tag along and share this cycling adventure with you. It was a magical journey I will never forget!
